MANTAS SWIMMING CLUB
The origins of the Mantas Swimming Club go back to 1972 when Captain Howard Ernest ("Harry") Wright began to coach Hong Kong's YMCA swim team in preparation for its regular competitions with the Manilla YMCA team.
Having completed a distinguished career with the British Army, Captain Wright began a second career as a swim coach and over the course of nearly 30 years trained hundreds of young Hong Kong children, guiding many into the international arena.
The Mantas Swimming Club was Captain Wright's means of providing a way in which talented swimmers in Hong Kong could aspire to compete locally, regionally and internationally.
Today, more than four decades on, Mantas Swimming Club continues to provide a competitive but fun environment in which to develop swimming skills to the highest standards and to produce swimmers of the very highest calibre.
The Mantas Swimming Club began as Captain Harry Wright's dream to provide a means by which talented swimmers could learn the joy of building spirit and aspire to compete regionally.
Mantas swimmers are drawn from all sectors of the community.
Several Mantas swimmers have gone on to represent Hong Kong and other countries at the Olympic, Commonwealth and Asian games.

THE MANTAS INVITATIONAL SWIM MEET - SINCE 1977
The Mantas Invitational is the longest running international invitational meet of it's kind in Hong Kong. First held in 1977 at the Pao Yue Kong Swimming Pool in Hong Kong, the meet has gone from strength to strength every year, becoming one of the most in demand age group meets in the China region.
Thank you to everyone for continuing to support the meet. We are proud to host so many swimmers from an array of Asian countries, all fulfilling the dream of our Founder Captain Harry Wright.
